MY STORY

Designer Craftsman
I grew up surrounded by a maker's art. My childhood was spent in rural Vermont with my mother as a role model - a small business entrepreneur involved in fashion design. Her passion for her hands-on and artistic work ignited a similar passion in me. I spent time in her studio, where she always had a movie playing while she worked. From a young age, I would work alongside her, making my own versions of the props and clothing I saw in the movies she watched. No matter what adventures life took me on after that, I never stopped creating.
My passion for creating is matched only by my passion for the outdoors. In early adulthood I started using my skills to make gear for myself, including backpacks, shoes, and belts. During this time, I was also involved with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), where I participated in full-contact medieval combat. I started out making my own armor and garb, but quickly began to take orders from other members for their own gear. This is when the business side of my creative arts began to emerge.
I have spent my life learning about design, drawing, painting, sculpture, and pattern making, refining my craft one skill at a time. During this time I've developed my own style and techniques to be able to offer my own unique touch to my work. My tools and my skillset represent an unending devotion to learning and growing as an artisan.
After half a lifetime spent doing business on a small, word-of-mouth scale, while frequently moving from place-to-place to pursue the next great adventure, I've finally settled more permanently in Southwest Michigan. I have decided to take this opportunity to expand my business to a more formal operation, and open up my services to the world at large.
